Shoulder Impingement Treatment at Encino Orthopedics

Caused by repeated stress and compression to the rotator cuff and shoulder, shoulder impingement often affects athletes and people who work in physically demands jobs which require regular overhead movement. Sudden impact to the shoulder or poor posture over an extended period time can also cause shoulder impingement.

Symptoms of shoulder impingement include a restrictive feeling in the shoulder area, inability to reach up overhead or behind, pain and tenderness in the shoulder, and pain when performing repetitive shoulder movements, such as in pitching or golfing, for instance.

Dr. Reisch, Founder and Director of Encino Orthopedics Center will determine the severity of your shoulder impingement potentially using X-rays, an MRI, or other imaging technology to assess the micro-tears in the shoulder ligaments. Physical therapy is an important part of the rehabilitative process when it comes to a shoulder impingement injury, in order to restore full function, range of motion, and strength to the shoulder.
